Custom backgrounds
Post #1 | Jeroen Hammann | 02-Apr-2012
We had a great weekend! The Jack of Diamonds beta went live and we received a lot of helpful feedback from our beta testers. In this post I want to talk about the most wanted feature: custom backgrounds.
Custom backgrounds can be uploaded by the users and it was a functionality we wanted to have from the start. Nevertheless we didn’t implement it in the beta (yet). As you all noticed the backgrounds are fullscreen and high quality and we are trying very hard to find a way to make sure images uploaded by our users also have these specifications. Backgrounds should at least look good on 1080p screens, they need to have a good aspect ratio and the file size needs to be as small as possible (without losing too much of it’s quality). As you can see we have a lot of specifications to take into account.
That’s why a week ago we were very thrilled to find out that Facebook now supports high resolution images. This is good news because images can be imported from Facebook or uploaded to Facebook through our application (into a separate album). We will investigate whether or not this is the way we’re going do it, but it will be a lot of hard work nonetheless.
We will keep you up-to-date on the development and the implementation of custom backgrounds we are going to make sure this will be a function. Please keep sending your great feedback (even if it’s a small issue or feature you would like to have). We are working very hard to implement it as soon as possible.
